My house smells like peppermint! I just might keep sniffing till I'm lightheaded. Yes, I love that smell! Along with the cheery snowmen and snowflakes that have taken over my home, this awesome smell just makes it all perfect. Warm twinkling lights and the murmur of childrens voices made me want to do something just for fun. I had made a set of these totally adorable Candy Cane Stands last winter
And had just unpacked them on the countertop and had an interruption. When I came back I caught my little man red-handed! He had taken a perfect bite out of the top! Instead of getting upset I saw it as a chance to do some fun crafting in the near future.
So simple. So fun. So easy that I even had some little people helping with the first step.
I lightly oiled the 6" baking pan before placing the peppermints inside. There's so many designs you can do. I choose a more circular pattern.
And in the oven they went. Temp set at 350* for about 5-6 minutes. Watch closely that last minute because you don't want it to bubble an mess up the smooth top.
All melted and smelling so good!
Let it cool at least 10minutes or longer. Then gently turn it over and pop it carefully out to further cool.
Next take 3 or 4 candy canes and place a rubberband around them to help position them more evenly. Use your hot glue gun to glue them firmly together.
Then turn the cooled peppermint plate upside down and use your hot glue gun to attach the candy cane pedestal.
And enjoy! And make many more! And give them as gifts! And keep sniffing that wonderful peppermint scent!!
