The weather was chilly and the nights cold. Camping weather had come to an end. The gear put away and things winterized. But the little boy couldn't get out of his mind all the memories that had been made. He begged and pleaded to "go camping one more time!" I realized how much this would mean to him and sat down with Hubby to think of a plan. The first idea was to bring the tent into the dining room for a few nights. But that idea was vetoed when we thought about how long it had been since we'd last used it....several years! No way! The closed-up smell would ruin the fun by itself! So Pinterest.com to the rescue.
A TEEPEE!
I found several nice ideas and put them together in my mind. Made a list and headed to walmart while sending Hubby to Lowes.
Striping boards from Lowes. 2 Queen bed sheets and 2 boxes of tacks from Walmart.
And then the fun began! I waited till the babies were snug in bed and then the creativitity started flowing. I measured my queen sheets positioned the boards upright where I thought I needed them and started tacking the bottom of the sheets to the bottom of each board. I went the whole way around tacking to makes sure my boards where even. And then started tacking farther up each board.
At the top I sewed a 'cap' to cover the top of the sheets. It need up being past midnight until I was finished. And the little girl in me warred with the mommy in me to wake little man up to show him. But I waited!
The next morning I could barely wait till 'wake-up' time. When I went into wake him. I told him I had a big surprise and blind folded him. Then I led him inside the teepee before letting him pull the blind fold off.
The expression on his face was priceless!! I stood there with tears as I watched him turn around n around looking at each detail with wonder n joy!! He was speechless for the first few moments and then the shouting and jumping began.
